This may be your first vacation with your baby so packing for holidays may be a new concept to you and quite a daunting one at that. It is not hard to pack for a baby, but it will be a difficult holiday to survive if you forget your baby’s favourite blanket or toy. Start off your packing by making a list. If you have a list, you will be able to gather all of your items and check them off as you pack them in your suitcase. You want your child to be as comfortable as possible as he or she will be travelling and in a new environment.
Here are some tips for packing for holidays with a baby:
* Pack all of the baby essentials in a carry-on bag. You should carry extra diapers and other baby essentials in your luggage, but you will need some on-hand essentials while travelling. If you prefer certain products like baby wipes and diapers from a particular brand, pack extras as the place that you are travelling to may not carry the brand you prefer.
* Remember to pack an extra set of clothes in the carry on as well. If your baby has an accident or if the luggage is lost, you will have a back up outfit for your baby (and hopefully for you too!)
* Pack any medicines that your child may be using in a plastic bag. Remember to check in this medicine in case it is a liquid form with a small travel size bottle in your carry on. There are strict rules at the airport with liquids so you do not want this medicine to be taken away.
* Use a bag with shoulder straps or a backpack to place all of these items in so that you can keep your arms free for your baby to curl up into!
* Bring along all of your baby’s favourite toys, blanket and books. You can pack the essentials in carry-on luggage and the non-essentials in your regular suitcase.
With these tips you should have a stress free break. Being as prepared as possible will make your baby feel comfortable while travelling which will inevitably make you relaxed also. Make sure you have the following items written on your packing list for holiday:
* baby blanket,
* 1 to 2 outfits per day,
* food water,
* juice and formula,
* breast pump,
* nappies,
* a night light,
* a baby sling,
* a travel cot (may be rented or available at the hotel),
* car seat (may be rented),
* nappy rash cream,
* baby wipes, hand sanitizer, washable bibs,
* a coat, a hat, gloves, scarfs and gloves for cold weather,
* sunscreen, hats and bathing suits for warm weather,
* extra dummies, tissues, baby shampoo and soap, lotion and anything else your baby needs.
This is a thorough packing list for your baby. Simply by taking the time to plan ahead and pack accordingly, you will be set for a great holiday with your family.
